NaNoWriMo

So it looks like thanks to my Day Zero Project list #63, #67 (updating my blog at least weekly) is going to be a little more difficult than I thought.

#63 is to participate in NaNoWriMo, also known as NaNo. NaNoWriMo is National Novel Writing Month. It's basically a challenge to write a 50,000 word novel between November 1-30. I decided this would be a good way to challenge myself. I used to write a lot when I was younger, and I felt like it would be good for me personally and creatively to start up again. Most of my spare time in November will be spent writing my novel.

I've always really enjoyed Young Adult books. I've been reading them since I was quite young, and I still read them now. I figured YA would be a good genre for me to write as well.

I don't want to give too much away about my story, but the tentative title is Bad Princess: The Truth Behind Happily Ever After.

Dog Biscuits and Doughnuts

The other day I made dog biscuits for Archie. I used this recipe from Come On, Ilene!. I used a little gingerbread cookie cutter (I only have Christmas cookie cutters), so it's like he's a giant dog preying on people. They turned out pretty well, and he gobbles them up. I think next time I might try replacing the beef broth and bullion with chicken, because he LOVES chicken.

Isn't he handsome? :)

I also tried my hand at biscuit dough doughnuts the other night. I didn't have biscuit dough, so I used crescent rolls instead. I separated a tube into two sets of four triangles, and folded them into two rectangles, sealing all seams and edges. I cut little holes out with a soda cap. I pan fried the doughnuts and holes in canola oil, and dusted with powdered sugar when they were done. They were yummy :)

The only issue was that the oil was too hot for the last few, and the insides didn't cook, so I threw them out.

They were really easy to make, and really yummy. They're definitely something I'll make again :)

Day Zero Project

So my friend Nikki at The Shapes of Life inspired me to start the Day Zero Project.  Basically you make a list of 101 things you want to accomplish in 1001 days.  I'm really excited about  it, because I think it will help me really challenge myself and grow as a person.

1. Read 10 non-fiction books
2. Read 10 mysteries
3. Read 10 sci-fi/fantasy books
4. Read 10 classics
5. Read 10 historical fiction books
6. Read 10 young adult books
7. Read 10 chick lit books

Hot Toys For The Holidays

It's been awhile since I've posted. Things have been pretty crazy lately.

I've been at work. A lot. I feel like I barely have time to take a breath anymore. Thankfully, it looks like things might be slowing for just a bit before the Christmas season gets into full swing.

What do I do, you may wonder? I work in retail. Specifically, in toys. Since I have a bit of knowledge on the subject, I figured I'd let you in on what toys look like they're going to be hot this year.
